Something Different

I was working on my kitchen lately changing the displays.  I had this one by the sink but did not think it looked  finished.  Then I picked up a few Fallish type pieces from Walmart and combined it with flowers I already had.  Now that looks a lot better and I think it is done.
The jar on the left has brown sugar in it and the tall one in the back has spaghetti.  You don't usually put flowers in these but for now it is doing a good job as a flower vase.
One last thing to get this corner finished.

One of a set of place mats will do for the
finishing touch.

All of the items I have had for sometime already.
The tea set my daughters gave me two Christmas's ago.  They came from Cracker Barrel I understand.

The green
glass canisters were given to
me a few years ago.  The flowers
came from Goodwill and the wheat and
cat tails I just picked up at Walmart for
$.99 each.

So for very little expense I have something
new to look at when I am
working at the kitchen sink.

I am linking it up to Funky Junk Interior’s theme this week……things used as vases.

Flowers Around My House

This is just a quick post to show you the flowers around my home both inside and outside.  I love flowers of all kinds those real and those not so real.

I love to bring the flowers inside every chance
I get.

Of course some are real and some
are not real but pretty
just the same.

Some are on tea cups and tea pots
and some are on fabric.

Flowers.......I love them no matter
where!!!!

I hope you enjoyed a little bit
of the lovely flowers!

Just look around........you will see
them everywhere!

Time For Changes

Today was a day of mixing work and pleasure.  As there was a need for cleaning today I also had a fun project I wanted to accomplish.  I wanted to  change out the display in the middle of the big coffee table in the front room.  It's quite a large table so it always requires a rather large type of display.
I had already decided to use the large crystal pedestal jardiniere.  I could see in my mind
grapes or something that would fall out of the top.  I went looking on Saturday around town at Ross, Goodwill and Marshall's for grapes.  There were no grapes but I did find these great globes of different textures that I liked.

So they came home with me and now
to find the rest of the items I could see in my
mind for the display.  I remembered I had a bag of peat moss from previous projects.  That would
make a good base to build on.

After the globes were put
in I started looking around the house to see
what else would work.

I spotted this and this........

.....and this flower and greenery together
in a vase.  Now that was starting to look like
what I wanted.
It still needed more.
So off to hunt the house for more.

The ivy was found in my sitting room
as part of another arrangement.
So it left the one display and was
added to this one.  Okay looking
good but still not done.  I had these
black stones in a bag in the pantry
so they went round the bottom
for some contrast.

 The stones looked like
they should have an addition.
So off to look for a little something
I remembered I had.

I found him sitting rather lonely looking
in another room.

Now this little bird is helping
to add a little something cute
to this display.

While I was looking for the bird I
found this butterfly!

Okay.......I think that will do it.
It came together pretty well
I believe.

The doily is one from my
large collection of vintage
pieces.  I like having lots of
them to choose from.

It's really quite fun to look around the house
in rooms and cupboards to see
what you can find to make something
come together.  With just
buying the textured globes I was
able to find enough things I already
had to complete the job.

Thanks for visiting with me today.
I hope you enjoyed my fun
project that helped to make
the house cleaning a little more fun!!

Encouraging Words

Let me speak encouraging words when I can.

Let me uplift someone when I am able!

Let me not miss the opportunity to find
beauty everywhere I look.

Let not a day go by that I fail to
smile at someone.

When all around us there is such sadness and
overwhelming problems.  Every where we
look and in all the things we listen to on television
and the radio, in newspapers and on the internet the
darkness of the world invades our very
being.

Let us choose to bring a smile, a positive word, an
affirming comment, an encouraging word.  It is in
our power to find the beauty and share
it with others.

So though there is darkness all around us
let us determine that it shall not take root
in us.

Let us choose to bring the LIGHT to the world
and BEAUTY to every day!!

Think about such things!!
For nothing is impossible for our God and He
can use a willing vessel.......us!!
